I wouldn't mind if you'd call me insane, trust me, I wouldn't. First thing's first, I don't care what people think about me! Secondly, isn't it pretty obvious to call a person in love, stupid and mad? Of course it is. Well, if the person's in love with a fictional character then definitely, yes.
But I couldn't stop falling in love with Sherlock Holmes, I just couldn't. Not only Sherlock Holmes, I fell in love with Wilbur and Charlotte in E.B.White's " Charlotte's Web", and I fell in love with Geronimo Stilton, "Holy whiskers!!" he'd say, if he knew that there is a human admirer of his! Not only that, I fell in love with Rusty, Dr. John Watson, Hermione Granger, Captain Nemo, The secret seven, The Adventure Series by Enid Blyton ( apparently all of 'em were brilliant), and the list goes on...
But, what a satire!! Oh dear, none of it is real, is it? No, certainly not. So, so very disheartening!! I want bury myself deep... this is the most ironical moment for an avid reader, for every one who loves reading, and just like me falls in love with those fictional characters; people who don't even exist in the real world! Now what would you call that, insane? Psychopathy? Stupid? Oh, give it whatever name you want, I shall call it LOVE.
This is the purest form of love. It is like devotion, when we pray to the almighty( ignore if you are an atheist), when you seek for science if anything else makes no sense; it is love at its best. And when does it reach the peak of irony? It's when you close the book and you know that all the love you felt, all those feelings were true, except, the fact that the pillars on which your love was to rely was a BIG LIE. Period. What a pleasant nightmare!!
Do you know the beauty of this love? It is not love at first sight, it is called gradual love. You don't ever get to see what that person looks like, so you don't have a chance of loving the beauty of the face; you love the person's nature, the attitude, the voice that you've never heard, the smile that you've only imagined, the heart that you and only you've felt, and most importantly, the man that you've never seen, and I doubt you'll ever get see!
It is not the love you can propose to, it is feeling that might make you sense grief and relief, both at the same time. It's hard to admit, but it's sort of a one sided love, ain't it? You don't realize how, but it just happens.
That is MAGIC, magic of literature and emotions, and people, who never knew you and whom, probably you'll never know, personally at least.
So, what to do? Oh I don't have any idea, maybe write... that could be an option. Or...um... Cry, cause I have cried, or laugh, or shout, or eat, you may chose to sleep as well. But no matter what, it's tough to overcome the heartbreak. Many don't even bother to think of all this. But I assure you, I am not on the side of those many, not at all! After all there's something called my perspective...
But what I don't understand is, how can words, mere words give me a new life- and snatch it away from me, whenever it wishes to? Unexplainable!!
How did you program the human mind, God? Indeed you made it complex and miraculous!! Now, you are another invisible genius.
But why talk of "love at it's best" at midnight. Well, just popped up in my head, so yeah, there we go...
That's what a writer does, isn't it? Pen down all that comes to his/her mind. Lovely!
Let's talk mystery, now. Um... interesting. There's a bungalow out there, right opposite to my apartment building. Standing there for ages, I guess. In front of it lays a big lawn, at least it was supposed to be a lawn- probably once neatly maintained- now it is what the kids call, " Whispering Bushes". Spooky ain't it, right in the middle of the city, with electricity, government(funny), urban people(funnier), and technology ( funniest, this one).
"The world has changed," you'd say, " No one believes in haunted houses
spooky and weird stuff like that". Of course, in this world where the news channels are more concerned about a celebrity's marriage decor, over discussing about sustainable development!! This may sound idiotic, but, rather than putting ideas and policies in children's text books, it would do a greater help if those information could be projected on platforms that are meant for actual news.
But the world hasn't stopped being ridiculous, has it?!!! Neither will it ever be. Mark those words, in this world, where there are very few humans with the knowledge of using their brains and themselves right, you are in an advantageous position, only put your common sense to use. Don't be silly, don't be lazy, and most importantly, be obsessed with improving yourself, every moment.
Recently I've been keenly looking into stories of Sherlock Holmes, and to be honest, at this moment I am so desperate to meet him, that I'd jump off a cliff, if I had to. No, no; thought rejected, Mr. Holmes wouldn't have thought it to be clever enough to jump of a cliff for any fictional character.
Yet, here I present myself to you; this is me, I get obsessed with a person, a character, to be more precise, when I find him/her interesting.
But then my mind informs me the reality, which I then very carefully note down, ' It is not true'.
But there is indeed a lot we can learn from our own patterns and habits, can't we? Sure we can. So, I have concluded that I write down all I like about a specific character, that's making me obsessed about him/her, then try to inculcate those skills and habits in me, if possible, only to improve myself. Let's start.
SHERLOCK HOLMES:
1. Observant
2. Daring
3. Clever
4.Humorous
5. Intelligent, rather informative
6. Arrogant, to some extent
7. Ignorant, sometimes absent minded, whenever not needed.
8. Caring, in a different way
9. Intuitive
10. Quick
11. Friendly, to his only friend at least
12. Alert
13.Loving, to his dear ones
14. Dumb, in matters of love, to be accurate
These were the qualities that I noticed, ignoring the physical characteristics- Height, facial features- although I must say that Benedict Cumberbatch is a very handsome man, with sharp features and brilliant acting skills; that's true, I've been entertaining myself with a little bit of " SHERLOCK" in Netflix these days!!
To conclude this silly chat of mine with silence of the room at midnight (and you), cause it actually is midnight now, I'd say- thank you for your patience.
Now get lost! Haven't you a lot many things to do? Don't blame the world for it, blame your procrastinating ideas!!!
Ciao folks!!!
